How will you use the GROW method to improve a food experience?

:

The Down to Earth Food Co-op is committed to providing healthy, vegetarian meals made with natural, local ingredients to college students at the University of Delaware in a way that is affordable, accessible, and sustainable. We hold biweekly community dinners, where members of the co-op take turns cooking and preparing meals. We buy organic groceries in bulk from a local cooperative and source sustainably-grown produce from local farmers for our dinners. Through the Down to Earth food co-op, students gain not only healthy food, but also practical skills and a sense of community, and all of this is done in a way that cuts down on wasted water and energy, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and supports and strengthens local food networks.

How will you use the $1,000 grant to turn your idea into a reality?

Because we are still a new organization, we need funding to cover the start-up costs of establishing of food cooperative. The $1000 grant will be extraordinarily helpful in purchasing basic kitchen supplies and cooking equipment, bulk groceries, and other materials. The grant will help us keep costs to our members at a minimum, which is important in maintaining our commitment to serve students by making healthy, organic food affordable and accessible.

Good luck! UD desperately needs more real food and students learning to take the lead.

I voted for you and I applaud your efforts! When I was a student here in the 1970s there was a weekly (every Thursday evening) Beggars Banquet at a local shared space, - cost was $1.00 and it was good vegetarian fare.

If I had a vote, it would certainly go to you folks. Many years ago, my husband and I contributed to the funding of the E. Lansing, MI. food coop and they are still in business to this day.
I wish you much success.
